S/Y Avalon's skipper Allan Carstensen

 I am 62 years old. I was retired from the Royal Danish Air Force as Lt. Colonel in 2003. I have also been 31 years in the Royal Danish Navy, where I retired as Commander in 1993.

I have been sailing since I was very young. I have owned several boats of which I build one 36 foot yacht myself.

I am BoC in Electronics, Ocean Master in sailing and engineering.

I have been racing in dingies and keel boats. The last two years in the forces I won the Royal Forces Championship in Yngling keelboat.

I have singlehanded sailed to Sweden and Norway.

I was part time skipper and mate on S/Y Anaconda, while sailing in Panama and Costa Rica september to december 2004.

In the summer 2005 I crossed the Atlantic Ocean on board the 85 foot sailing yacht Chardonnay of Ft. Lauderdale, and sailed it later from Denmark to Croatia as mate and 1st mate.
